In the end, their chosen name of Archie Harrison threw everyone for a loop. Does this mean we’ll be surprised by the baby name they’ll choose for their daughter, due some time in early summer? Kind of predictably, the name Diana is to be a top contender among British gamblers. Gambling website Betfair has the odds of new Baby Sussex being called Diana at 4/1. However, it’s not thought to be likely that the baby will be named in honor of Harry’s late mother, the Princess of Wales. A source told Page Six reports that the Sussexes are concerned that it would make their daughter a “bigger target” for the press and that it would “considerably increase public interest in the child’s life.” If this is the case, it’s quite possible that they will give their daughter the middle name of Diana, like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge did when Princess Charlotte was born. After Diana, other baby girls’ names that top Betfair’s list of Harry and Meghan’s possible choices are Allegra (11/1), Isabella (12/1) and Maya (12/1.) The list includes a number of other possibilities. Will the baby be called after Meghan’s mother Doria (25/1), Vice-President Kamala (16/1), or Harry’s cousin Eugenie (50/1)? Or maybe they’ll go for Alexandra (18/1), Oprah (50/1) or Grace (16/1). One intriguing possibility on the list is Artemis, with 20/1 odds, which is the Greek equivalent of the Roman goddess Diana. It would certainly fit in with the Sussexes’ baby name theme—Archie’s name is derived from the Greek root arch, meaning “source of action.” It also provided the inspiration for the name of their charitable foundation, Archewell. Next up, can you visit Princess Diana’s grave—and what dress was she buried in?
