The monarch missed the Remembrance Sunday ceremony due to a back sprain. In a statement, Buckingham Palace said, “The Queen, having sprained her back, has decided this morning with great regret that she will not be able to attend today’s Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph. Her Majesty is disappointed she will miss the service.” According to royal reporter Omid Scobie, a palace source told him that “the injury is unrelated to recent doctor’s advice to rest.” The queen’s doctors had advised her to rest until November 13, after which period she was due to appear on the balcony overlooking the Cenotaph alongside other members of the royal family.
