After being delayed due to COVID-19, the reunion special has FINALLY been taped. The show’s official Instagram account shared a photo on April 10 writing, “That’s a wrap! Could we BE anymore excited!? Friends: The Reunion is coming to @hbomax. #friendsreunion.”

Which cast members will participate in the Friends reunion?
It wouldn’t be a Friends reunion without the six core stars: Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green), Courteney Cox (Monica Geller), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay), Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani), Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing) and David Schwimmer (Ross Geller). The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that the Emmy-winning series’ creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane would also be participating in the reunion.

The special will feature a number of familiar faces, including Tom Selleck, who played Monica’s ex Richard Burke, in addition to Reese Witherspoon, who portrayed Rachel’s sister Jill. Is the Friends reunion a new episode?
Don’t expect a new scripted Friends episode. The forthcoming reunion is an unscripted special. To avoid “any misunderstanding,” HBO Max previously said (via THR), “We want to make it very clear that this is not a new, original episode of the series. The cast will be appearing as themselves, not as their beloved characters.” Ahead of the taping, Schwimmer appeared on The Graham Norton Show, where he shared a detail about the reunion. “There’s nothing scripted. We’re not in character. Yeah. We’re all ourselves. The real people,” he said. “Although there is one section of it that I don’t want to give away, where we all read something.” Last year, Kudrow revealed to The Sunday Times that the cast was going to “reminisce, talk about what was going on behind the scenes.” She said (via Entertainment Tonight), “It’s six of us coming together for the first time in I don’t know how long.” “I am really looking forward to it, because I think that I remember things, but then I talk to Matt [LeBlanc] or Jennifer, and they remember everything,” Kudrow added. “It’s really fun.” The trailer gives the rest away, pretty much.
Where was the Friends reunion taped?
Sources told TMZ that the special was taped at Warner Brothers Studios. A photo obtained the by the outlet showed bleachers and equipment set up around the fountain where the show’s opening credits were shot. Parts of the reunion were also reportedly filmed inside the comedy’s original soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank. One photo taken from set features the famous Central Perk couch in front of the fountain.
Who is the host of the Friends reunion?
While Schwimmer couldn’t reveal who the host is, he confirmed to Andy Cohen on Radio Andy that it’s not Ellen DeGeneres.
