Six bakers from around the country flocked to Waco, Texas to compete for $25,000 and the chance to have their winning treat featured on the menu at Joanna and Chip Gaines’ bakery, Silos Baking Co. Andrew Zimmern and Zoe Francois joined Joanna to taste-test the treats. “I love watching home cooks and food entrepreneurs test out their favorite recipes in a true competition format with all the pressure of a timed event with big stakes,” Zimmern told Parade.com. “It’s truly an honor to judge the Silos Baking Competition and watch bakers with so much talent explore their passion.” For Francois, the first-ever Silos Baking Competition was unlike any competition she had previously judged. “I have to confess, most competition shows make me anxious. This is a contest at the end of the day, but it’s with bakers, so everyone was there to have fun and bake their hearts out,” the Zoe Bakes star told Parade.com. “They even stopped what they were doing to help each other out. It was unlike any competition I’ve ever judged and exactly why bakers are the loveliest people.” The competition was filmed outdoors in front of a live audience at the Silos in Waco. “The Texas weather was my biggest concern for them since they had to bake outside. It was a nail-biter as buttercream slouched in the midday sun, but the bakers were determined and brought everything they had to the challenge,” Francois said. “There was so much joy and deliciousness, I had the hardest time not picking them all as winners!” Silos Baking Competition will air simultaneously on Magnolia Network and Food Network on Sunday, June 12, at 8 p.m. ET. The one-hour special will also be available to stream on Discovery+. Next, find out Chip and Joanna Gaines’ net worth!
