The actor, 47, made the rare red carpet appearance at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Thursday night alongside Ruby, the 16-year-old daughter he shares with ex Jennifer Meyer. (The former pair also share 13-year-old son Otis Tobias.) While Maguire kept his attire for the night simple with a classic black suit and white shirt by Paul Smith, his daughter opted for a little more glam for the evening. The teen was all dolled up in a velvet minidress and a red coat with fur lining, and she completed the ensemble with black tights, ankle booties, and a bright lip for a pop of color. The appearance marks a rare public occasion for the father-daughter duo, as Maguire is usually pretty private with his family life—but he’s definitely a doting dad when they’re away from the public eye. Just months after Ruby was born, Maguire told reporters that he “love[s] being a dad,” while doing press for Spider-Man 3 in 2007. “I love my daughter…yeah, it’s definitely amazing!” he said at the time, per People. “It’s like everybody says—all the clichés are true.” “It’s indescribable,” he added at the time. “You just have to be there to understand it. You know, you don’t really get it until you’re there.” Now, fast forward over 15 years, and Ruby is all grown up and accompanying her dad to movie premieres as he gears up for the release of Babylon, which features a star-studded cast with Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Olivia Wilde and more. Babylon hits theaters in the U.S. on Friday, Dec. 23.
