The Voice tonight recap
After some chit chat with the Top 10, host Carson Daly got to the point of the evening: The results! First to be saved from Team Blake was Paris Winningham. Second from Team Ariana was Jim and Sasha Allen. Then Gwen Stefani joined Carson and hubby Blake Shelton on stage to introduce her season 19 winning artist Carter Rubin, who performed his new single “Horoscope.” After some behind-the-scenes bloopers of Ariana at The Voice, the results reveal continued. Next to go through was Team Kelly’s Girl Named Tom. Carson did a plug for the upcoming NBC musical Annie, and then more of the Top 8 was revealed when Team Blake’s Wendy Moten made it through, as did Team Legend’s Joshua Vacanti. The Voice took a break for a performance of “Better Days” by Mae Muller, Neiked, and Polo G, although Mae was the only one live on stage. The final two to go through based on America’s Monday night vote were Lana Scott from Team Blake and Hailey Mia from Team Kelly. That meant that Holly Forbes, Jeremy Rosado, and Jershika Maple were the three singing for the Instant Save. Jeremy went first, singing Rascal Flatts’ “What Hurts the Most” for his chance to stay in the competition. Kelly said: “You are so gifted. It was such a brilliant Save song. It showcases your voice. This song will prove to America how dynamic you can be.” Holly went next singing Kelly Clarkson’s “Because of You.” Ariana told her: “This to me does not making any sense. I say this with so much love, but you have been a vocal titan. Every single week you have delivered some of the most perfect vocals.” The final performance was by Jershika singing the Empire cast and V. Bozeman’s “What Is Love.” John said: “I am so stunned that you are in this position. You haven’t just been one of the best people on my team but you’re one of the best people this season. In this moment, you’ve given your best performance so far. It was so soulful, so powerful, so emotional, so technical.”
