The band released a statement via Instagram on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, explaining that Tyler, 74, relapsed after being prescribed pain medication following surgery. “As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years. After foot surgery to prepare for the stage and the necessity of pain management during the process, he has recently relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program to concentrate on his health and recovery,” the statement reads in part. “We are truly sorry to inform our fans and friends that we must cancel our first set of Las Vegas Residency dates this June and July while he focuses on his well-being.”

Aerosmith started a Las Vegas, Nevada, residency show called Deuces are Wild in January 2019 until early 2020. Other plans, like a European tour, were delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The rescheduled tour throughout Europe was later canceled, with the band announcing the news on their Twitter, stating that “The health, safety and well being of our fans is our number one priority.” Aerosmith planned to return to their Las Vegas residency with more dates starting in summer 2022.  In the new statement, Aerosmith also addressed the future of the band and its residency while expressing their regrets about the situation, Aerosmith stated that “We will continue our 2022 dates starting in September, and we’ll let you know any further updates as soon as we can.” Next, these 101 songs about depression will remind you that you’re not alone.
