Who’s in the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds cast?

Anson Mount (Capt. Christopher Pike) Captain Pike is the immediate predecessor to Capt. James T. Kirk on the Enterprise. The character has been played by four actors so far. Jeffrey Hunter originated the role in the pilot episode, but after the pilot was rejected he withdrew from the series and the show was reimagined with Kirk at the helm instead. Within the original series, Sean Kenney plays an older Pike with the show using footage from the unaired pilot as archival footage of the character. In the recent Star Trek film by J.J. Abrams and Justin Lin, Bruce Greenwood plays Pike and is mentor to a young James Kirk (Chris Pine). Mount is probably best known for his role as Cullen Bohannon on AMC’s Hell on Wheels. He also starred in the short-lived Marvel series, Inhumans and has appeared on Dollhouse, Law & Order, Lost and Smallville. When asked about being cast as Captain Pike, Mount said, “I just never thought I would end up captaining the Enterprise. Every single day I’m on the set—I’m not exaggerating—is both disbelief and a feeling of tremendous gratitude.” Follow him on Twitter and Instagram @ansonmount.

He previously starred as Patrick Verona in the ABC Family television series, 10 Things I Hate About You, based on the film of the same name which starred Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
