Spoiler alert In last week’s episode of Sanditon, Colonel Lennox (Tom Weston-Jones) proposed to Charlotte (Rose Williams) but did not get the answer he had hoped for, Georgiana (Crystal Clarke) was given a proposal of sorts from Charles Lockhart (Alexnder Vlahos) and Alison (Rosie Graham), who had accepted and then turned down a proposal of her own began to see Captain Fraser (Frank Blake) in a new light. Captain Fraser looked in on Alison after her short-lived engagement ended when she fell overboard in her initial excitement over Carter’s (Maxim Ays) proposal. The excitement was cut short when Carter’s heroic tales of saving 50 men from drowning turned out to be false: He could not swim—or rescue her from the lake. Luckily, Captain Fraser was nearby and saved poor Charlotte. Declan apologized for allowing Carter to continue his deceit. Alison began to realize that all the qualities she thought she admired about Carter were among Fraser’s traits. The tales of bravery Carter passed off as his own were Fraser’s in real life. It was his heroic nature that saved her from drowning, and she doesn’t yet know that the poetic words Carter used to woo her were from Fraser’s favorite poet. During the ball, Lennox proposed to Charlotte only to be turned down as she had stated previously she did not wish to marry. In a show of forcefulness, Lennox manhandled Charlotte hoping to force her to submit but she did not. As she escaped his grip, she ran into Alexander Colbourne (Ben Lloyd-Hughes). The two went back to his manor with Augusta (Eloise Webb) in tow and Colbourne told Charlotte the truth about his relationship to Lennox, unaware Leonora (Flora Mitchell) is outside eavesdropping. Did you notice how different the dances and music were between Charlotte and Lennox’s dance and Charlotte and Colbourne’s? The dances between Charlotte and Colbourne as well as between Alison and Fraser were far more intimate and romantic than say, the dance between Charles Lockhart and Georgiana. We learned that Colbourne’s wife stayed in London for one last season while he returned to his ancestral home near Sanditon. Colonel Lennox, just a captain in those days, wooed Colbourne’s wife and got her pregnant. Leonora is Lennox’s biological daughter, not Colbourne’s. Ridden with guilt over his wife’s death, it was Charlotte’s turn to comfort Colbourne and the two kissed. Meanwhile, Alison confronted Captain Carter at the ball for his deceit and lies. Her stance against him put a slight smile on Captain Fraser’s lips. Fraser later insisted that the two share a dance, much to Carter’s chagrin. The two trade barbs as they danced, but every barb was laced with desire and admiration for the other. In the season finale of Sanditon, Sidney’s possessions from Antigua finally arrive at the Parker House. Will there be more clues about why he was there and what he was up to? Charlotte makes a decision regarding Alexander Colbourne while Georgiana makes plans of her own. Tom (Kris Marshall) and Arthur (Turlough Convery) make their own plans on how to confront Lennox and the army’s unpaid bills. After learning of her paternity, Leonora sets off on a mission of her own, and Alison prepares to say goodbye to Sanditon as well as Captain Fraser.
