And Riverdale fans everywhere couldn’t be more thrilled—especially because a few years ago, there were rumors that teen-murder-mystery-show was in danger of not being renewed. That threat, of course, is long gone and the only looming danger that remains for Riverdale now is the supernatural elements that have been introduced in Season 6, which debuted back in November 2021. Riverdale has come a long way since the days of Archie dating his teacher and the bizarre, inexplicable drowning of quarterback Jason Blossom. Nowadays, fans have jumped through time—seven years total—with the show’s main characters–Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead (and we guess Cheryl, too?). Now with the Riverdale crew in their twenties, there’s a whole slew of new drama about to go down. Here’s everything we know about the second half of Riverdale Season 6—from the premiere date to the latest Season 6 trailer and how to stream the show.
What is the Riverdale Season 6 premiere date and time?
Come watch a spell! The first half of Riverdale Season 6 debuted on The CW on Tues, Nov. 16, 2021, immediately following the Season 8 premiere of The Flash’s “Armageddon” crossover event. It culminated in a special five-episode premiere event titled “Rivervale.” The show then took a midway break, of course, leaving fans with a hell of a cliffhanger as the mid-season finale. The second part of Riverdale Season 6 is set to debut on The CW on Sunday, March 20 at 8 p.m. ET. For fans used to Riverdale nights being a weekday, this new premiere date marks the first time Riverdale will switch to a weekend showing. Previously, Riverdale was supposed to return the first week of March, but it was pushed back in favor of premiering after the Critics’ Choice Awards, which airs March 13. This way, Riverdale won’t be interrupted by a week it can’t air.
What time will Riverdale be on?
Over the past few years, Riverdale has switched days and premiere times several times. For the second half of Season 6, Riverdale will revert back to its original debut time of 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT. This is the time the show usually debuted before it was switched to an hour later for the first half of Season 6. But don’t worry, Riverdale-rs—the series is back to its original time slot, so it’ll be easy to remember!
What happened in the Riverdale Season 6 mid-season finale?
Things got spooky in Riverdale from the moment Season 6 kicked off! For the first time in Riverdale history, mystical, supernatural elements were introduced into the town with Pep, which even culminated in an appearance from Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman, a crossover of sorts with Riverdale’s sister show, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix. But where did we leave off? The Riverdale Season 6 mid-season finale premiered back in December and it certainly left fans with questions… (Warning: Spoilers ahead!) As you may recall, Season 6 began in the wake of Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) casting a revenge curse on the entire town after finding out that the ancestors of Betty, Archie, and Jughead burned Cheryl’s cousin, Abigail, at the stake for being a witch. Sabrina—another beloved character from the Archie Comics universe—popped in during the last few eps to lend a helping magical hand. Now, in Season 6, we entered a different universe altogether—Rivervale. The bomb that went off at Archie’s house apparently destroyed Riverdale as we knew it and left us with an inverse version of the town. Now, Jughead is at the helm of it all and must keep writing new story lines in order to keep Rivervale from becoming nothing more than a bastardized version of the original setting. “One of the things that we really worked hard on is to make sure that these five episodes… Obviously, we wanted to make them as fun as possible, and we wanted to event-ize them and all that stuff, and we wanted a little bit of a clean slate and a fresh start with these episodes,” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told TVLine. Aguirre-Sacasa added, “But it was really important to make sure that they were what we call ‘in continuity,’ meaning that things that happen in Rivervale would continue or echo or speak to the events of Riverdale. Every year, we start very disparate storylines, and we always try to weave them all together, and this year is no exception.”
Are there any Riverdale Season 6 spoilers?
So far, everything about Season 6 has been kept relatively hush-hush, although we do know that Marisol Nichols will return to reprise her role as Veronica Lodge’s mom, Hermione Lodge. At this point in time, Hermione is divorced from Hiram and is the star of her own reality TV show (which her daughter wants nothing to do with). “Thought you guys might like to know what I’m up to this week,” Nichols captioned an Instagram pic of the script for the first episode of Season 6, part two.

Is the entire Riverdale cast returning?
It’s hardly the first time fans have worried about someone important leaving the Riverdale cast. Especially Cole Sprouse, who plays Jughead Jones; he can be a bit of a wild card. Lest we forget that at the end of Season 4, Jughead fake-died, leaving many to wonder if he had been fired from or chose to voluntarily leave the show. Turns out, neither was true. Sprouse continued working on Riverdale and his character’s TV “death” was all a sham. Still, Sprouse is expected to return to Season 6 along with the following cast members set to reprise their roles:

And the newest resident of Riverdale? Chris O’Shea (of Netflix’s You fame) is joining the cast, playing Percival Pickens. But don’t be fooled by Percival—he may seem and sound sweet, innocent, and charming but he proves himself quickly to be a major bad guy with dreams of creating a bizarre utopia. Previously, there had been some rumors that Sprouse was leaving the show but after setting the record straight, he appeared in the first leg of Season 6 and will continue to appear in the second leg. Sprouse toldVariety Live, “For me, as long as the show that I’m working on—Riverdale—is one that I continue to have fun on and work with all my closest friends, which I do, it’s a privilege to be a working actor. I think to sit and stare at something in the face—and you can laugh at yourself and you can criticize something you’ve worked for—but I think it’s incredibly pretentious and ignorant to look at something that you are blessed to have and go like, ‘I’m done.’” There is one significant change in cast that’s shaking things up in Season 6. Mark Consuelos, who played Veronica’s father Hiram Lodge as a season regular, has officially exited the show, according to Deadline. The Season 5 finale really was the last of Hiram Lodge! Of Consuelos’ departure, showrunner Aguirre-Sacasa said, “We wish Mark the best and hope this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Hiram Lodge.” Meanwhile, Consuelos said, “Never before has playing a character that was so bad, felt so good. Huge thanks to the Riverdale fandom, to the brilliant crew and amazing cast, whom I consider dear friends and family.” It appears that, although Consuelos will no longer be a season regular, he may pop in from time to time.
How will Riverdale end?
Much of Riverdale has revolved around the Core Four’s high school experiences. Of course, a lot of that has changed since the iconic Season 5 time jump, but show creator Aguirre-Sacasa recently teased the series ending. “The graduation episode definitely feels like that is the end of a big story that we started in the pilot and it kind of hearkens back to when we first pitched Riverdale. Some of the executives that we pitched it to said: ‘So is this just a high school show?’” Aguirre-Sacasa revealed. “I remember thinking: ‘Gosh I hope not, I hope it continues into young adulthood.’ It’s funny, I remember back in the day saying: ‘To me, I think Riverdale ends when Archie has a child.’” So, does that mean we can look forward to Archie becoming a dad some time in Season 6? Only time will tell. “But without a doubt, the graduation episode feels like a pretty big end of a chapter, and in a way, episode four is a pretty hard reboot, but still Riverdale-ian,” Aguirre-Sacasa added.
