Here’s everything we know so far about the new series, Resident Alien, plus, an exclusive sneak peek from episode 1.

What is Resident Alien about?

The new show follows an alien whose mission is to kill all human life on earth. Unfortunately for him, he has crash landed in the small town of Patience, Colorado, and is stuck on earth until he can fix his ship. Taking on human form, he passes himself off as Harry, a small-town doctor. Luckily, the town is full of quirky characters so he fits right in. While trying to stay under the radar by living a quiet and simple life, he gets roped into solving a local murder. As he assimilates into this new world—through Law & Order reruns!—he encounters a moral dilemma of his secret mission—ultimately asking the question, “Are human beings worth saving?” The show is a little bit Roswell, a little bit Northern Exposure and a whole lot of fun.

Who’s in the Resident Alien cast?

Alan Tudyk (Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle)

Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle lives a quiet and unassuming life in Patience, Colorado. He sticks to himself, goes out fishing by himself. He’s basically a hermit, which is perfect for the alien who kills him and takes over his identity. Alien Harry wants to continue on with Vanderspeigle’s unassuming life, but when he is pulled into solving a murder in the small town he finds himself assuming a more active social life—such that it is in Patience. Tudyk has had a varied career in film, television, theater and video games. He’s voiced characters like King Candy in Wreck-It Ralph, K-2SO in Rogue One, and HeiHei in Moana. He has had memorable turns as Wash in Firefly and Serenity, Steve the Pirate in Dodgeball and Ben Chapman in 42. He is also the creator, executive producer and star of the Emmy-nominated web series Con Man, which is loosely based on Tudyk and Nathan Fillion’s experiences starring in Firefly. Fun fact: Tudyk played “Lancelot” with the original cast in Monty Python’s Spamalot.

Sara Tomko (Asta Twelvetrees)

Asta works with Harry in the town’s health clinic. She has a bit of a checkered past that she can’t seem to outrun.

Corey Reynolds (Sheriff Mike Thompson)

Judah Prehn (Max Hawthorne)

Judah Prehn plays Max Hawthorne, the mayor’s son, and the only one who can see Harry for who and what he really is. Because of this unfortunate ability, Harry is hell bent of ridding the world of Max and comes up with a variety of ways to do the deed.

Levi Fiehler and Meredith Garretson (Ben and Kate Hawthorne)

Ben is the town’s naive mayor. He and Kate are Max’s frustrated parents and are at their wits’ end dealing with their over-imaginative child.
