Host Jesse Palmer had announced a diabolical new twist to the competitors on Monday’s show—Split Week, which saw the original women leave the beach to make way for new ladies. Before we dig into the details of what happened tonight, let’s take a look at what Split Week really is.

As the name implies, seemingly established couples are ripped apart for one week in a test of their relationship strength. Although new to the Bachelor franchise, the concept is ripped straight from the Love Island playbook. When the Casa Amor twist is introduced about halfway through the Love Island season, either the original guys or girls, are asked to secretly leave the main villa and head to, you guessed it, Casa Amor, where a new group of hot guys or girls await.
How does Split Week work on Bachelor in Paradise?
At the end of Monday night’s episode, Palmer asked all five of the OG ladies on Bachelor in Paradise to pack their bags to head to another resort. In their place, five new bombshells— Jessenia, Sarah, Kate, Eliza and Florence— from other Bachelor franchises arrived. Let’s just say things did not go well when the girls arrived at their new resort. “All of us are in a bad state,” Lace noted Tuesday night, and they all shouted, “F— you, Jesse Palmer!” from the balcony of their new Mexican resort. Jill and Genevieve cried over being exiled and separated from beaus Jacob and Aaron. Meanwhile, the fresh arrivals were delighted to start flirting with the OG guys in Paradise!
What happened when new girls joined Bachelor in Paradise?
Eliza believed she was connecting with Lace’s flame, Rodney, while Kate thought Jacob was “anyone’s game.” ABC/Craig Sjodin Meanwhile Jill, who considered Jacob her guy after their naked date, said the Split Week was “hell.” At a pool party back on the beach, Jessenia wanted a rose from Andrew while Jacob thought his relationship with Jill was real but admitted Kate gave him “butterflies.” Kate and Jacob got into a hot makeout session in the pool and she told cameras, “Jill is gone….I’m not leaving.” Rodney and Eliza also had a fun time chatting and smooching. Michael and Danielle returned from their date and were shocked to see all the new women. “This is going to cause a lot of chaos,” Michael sighed.

Brittany also said Tyler was “as hot as hell.” While Brittany kissed Tyler, her beau Andrew was hesitating to get things going with Jessenia.

Shanae was keeping her options open and chose Tyler when she received a date card. Brittany wasn’t happy. Tantric yoga experts instructed Shanae and Tyler how to do some sexy poses together, and they wound up kissing. Logan told the cameras he still felt loyal to Shanae.

Although Andrew had liked how things were going with Brittany, he shared a private meal with Jessenia. They bonded over being nerdy. Jessenia said she had done pageants, but also enjoyed video games—and the two smooched.

The blonde said in confessional that Tyler was sexy and he’d gotten a “h— on” in the pool.” Shanae told cameras, “I got hot and bothered. The handsome former football player saw Eliza as a prospective wife but was torn due to his ongoing relationship with Lace. Meanwhile, Lace was melting down over missing Rodney. Rodney picked Eliza with his date card and they enjoyed dinner together. He told her there was no one else he’d rather be with while Eliza said he made her feel like a giggly little girl again. The athlete said he wanted a woman to bring home to mom and the two kissed.
Did Lace Confront Rodney on BIP?
The teary-eyed reality star decided that she would take a van back to the beach and talk to Rodney about their relationship. The other guys were shocked to see Lace back and eventually had to admit Rodney was on his date with Eliza. “This is so f—ed up,” Lace moaned. Rodney said in confessional that Eliza was giving him goosebumps. When they walked down the stairs to the beach together holding hands, Lace confronted Rodney and the episode ended with “to be continued”! A preview showed that next week, viewers will see more drama with the original women returning to the beach.
