The reality star recently took to social media to share her body fat percentage, which has some health experts shaking their heads. The 41-year-old detailed her experience with a company called Bodyspec via her Instagram Story on Wednesday, where she proudly told her followers that her body fat percentage dropped significantly over the past year, putting her in the category of an athlete’s fitness. But one organization dedicated to helping people recover from eating disorders called Kardashian’s post harmful, especially for people who are already suffering with body image issues and mental health. The organization, Eating Disorders Victoria, called out The Kardashians star for “adding another yardstick” for vulnerable people to feel they should measure up to. “For people with eating disorders, specific details around people’s weight, behaviors, food intake and so on can be incredibly unhelpful,” a spokesperson for the organization told Junkee. “We often use the term ‘compare and despair,’ because that’s exactly what these kind of stats can lead to.” Even users on social media have been quick to point out the toxic nature of such statistics—which promote unrealistic expectations for women’s bodies—especially considering Kardashian has 327 million Instagram followers. One user on Twitter expressed their distaste over Kardashian’s post, writing, “To parade this in front of millions in this way is not just irresponsible, but extremely damaging.” But this definitely isn’t the first time the TV personality has been called out for spreading dangerous messages about weight, as she previously caught heat for admitting that she crash dieted in order to fit into Marilyn Monroe’s dress for the 2022 Met Gala. Kardashian has yet to respond to backlash after sharing the details of her full body scan earlier this week. More Pop Culture:
