The actor, 67, was honored with the award for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his role as John Dutton on Yellowstone. Since he wasn’t there to accept the award, presenter Regina Hall accepted it on his behalf, letting the audience know that he was unable to make the show due to severe flooding in California. Costner later shared a video to Twitter to apologize to his fans for his absence, stating, “I’m so sorry for everyone who might have been tuning in to watch the Golden Globes.” He explained that the flooding blocked the freeway, leaving him and his wife Christine Baumgartner stuck in Santa Barbara and unable to make it to the award show venue in Beverly Hills. After he was named as the winner in the Best Actor in a Drama Series, Costner took to social media again to express his gratitude. “Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press and @goldenglobes for this tremendous honor and to the @Yellowstone team for bringing John Dutton’s world to life,” he wrote in a message shared to both his Twitter and Instagram accounts. “I share this recognition with my castmates, the producers, and our incredible crew.” The post featured a silhouette photo of Costner in character as John Dutton while on set of the hit TV series. “Most of all, thank you to our show’s fans, who love Yellowstone Ranch as if it were their own,” he added in a follow-up tweet. Costner beat out a pretty impressive group of fellow nominees, which included Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) Jeff Bridges (The Old Man), Diego Luna (Andor) and Adam Scott (Severence).
