One fan captured the moment when Perry’s right eye appeared to close and stay shut on its own, despite her best efforts to pry it open.  In the footage, Perry can be seen touching the side of her face once, which opens her eye for a few seconds before it shuts once again.  After she did it one more time, it fully opened and stayed that way, and Perry went on with the show, without making any mention of it. The account @katyperrytv uploaded the clip on TikTok, and immediately, people shared their confused and shocked reactions in the comments. The most liked comment just says, “what the,” while someone else tagged the singer, saying, “@katyperry EXPLAIN YOURSELF! 😂.” One fan commented, “Conspiracy theorists are gonna have a field day with this one. 😂😂😂,” and they were right, as many people started joking about Perry actually being a robot. “software auto updates…loading,” said user @jeremyng177.  “Mechanical failure 😂she even press that button to keep it open 😂,” @elspamboy joked. Another user, @_marmar_e, wrote that the moment was like “That baby doll you had as a kid with the eye that kept closing.” One person made a really good point about what made the moment so off-putting, writing, “It wasn’t the eye thing that was weird it was the fact she acted like it didn’t happen and went on with the show…” It seemed like people on Twitter had better ideas about the real reason why this might’ve occurred, and quite a few thought that it was likely the result of “too much lash glue.”  One Twitter user said: “Have people never seen someone with stage makeup one before? Her eye is clearly glued together bc of her eyelash glue which she is trying to get unstuck You try wearing 50 pounds of makeup on your face under those hot lights & hope it doesn’t melt…she’s got this.” While some others proposed that it could be a physical manifestation of stress or something similar, the makeup theory seems the most likely.
