The media personality brought her passion for gardening to Instagram in hopes of helping other gardeners bring their plants back to life. The 65-year-old revealed that while she was skeptical of the hack at first, once she tried it, she became a believer. “Ever get tired of your hydrangeas wilting? Well, I saw this hack on @tiktok (my latest obsession!) and had to give it a try! 10/10 👍 🌸” she captioned the video. In the clip, posted by her KatieCouricMedia account, Couric attempts to revive a hydrangea by dunking it in the water for an hour. When she comes back, she’s not overly impressed. “TikTok, are you putting me on?” she initially questions. However, when she leaves the flower submerged in water overnight, she’s amazed by the results. “Winner, winner chicken dinner,” she exclaims as she removes the flower stem from the bucket. It’s clear that the TikTok community did not steer her wrong as the flower is back to its vibrant look. “Oh my god, it’s alive,” she states with pure joy, adding, “How beautiful! It works, thank you TikTok.” Celebrities and fellow avid gardeners took to the comment section immediately. “Love it,” One Tree Hill alum Hilarie Burton wrote. Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness chimed in with, “Ahh,” while actress Naomi Watts added, “Omg trying this now!” Meanwhile, Elon Musk’s mother, Maye Musk, weighed in by adding purple heart emojis to reflect the color of the flower. Couric seems to be passionate about hydrangeas this season as a post on her blog called them a “summer staple” that can “brighten up any space.” Since a bouquet only lasts for five to nine days, it’s only fitting that Couric found a hack to preserve their beauty for just a bit longer. Now, if only we could try this hack to preserve the summer weather….
