The U2 frontman had quite the adventure during a trip to the White House with his wife for dinner with then-President Obama, which he wrote all about in Tuesday’s release, per People. Apparently, Bono is allergic to salicylic acid, which, in addition to your typical acne cleansers, is also found in wine. While the president opted for cocktails throughout the evening, you can probably guess what the singer elected to drink. Bono wrote about how his intolerance quickly caused drowsiness, at least according to him, and he excused himself as he started to fall asleep. What happened next was all a blur for him, but according to his wife, Ali Hewson, the president eventually asked, “Bono’s been gone awhile. Is he OK?” Hewson tried to reassure Obama, but he insisted on ensuring everything was okay. Obama recalled Bono bringing up the Gettysburg Address and headed to search the Lincoln bedroom. Bono called it a “good instinct,” later adding, “They walked into the Lincoln Bedroom, and there I was, out cold, head in the bosom of Abraham Lincoln, on his very bed. ‘Falling asleep in the comfort of our freedoms,’ as I spun it afterward.” He’s not so sure the politician believes in his allergy. “He thinks Ali made this up to cover for me,” he wrote. “He tells people he can drink me under the table. Rubbish.” Obama has yet to comment on the story, but Bono assures readers that, if nothing else, the man makes a mean martini. More News:
