Were you sad to say goodbye to Harry’s octopus cousin, 42 (voiced by Nathan Fillion)? In a weirdly awkward, sad-yet-funny scene, Harry (Alan Tudyk) said goodbye to his cephalopod cousin after he was mauled to death by Murphy, the dog Sahar (Gracelyn Awad Rinke) walks for a neighbor. Following 42’s dying wish, Harry enjoyed him in a butter sauce and a nice chardonnay. Ben (Levi Fiehler) and D’Arcy (Alice Wetterlund) share a joint she hid in his childhood bedroom (now his son Max’s bedroom) and have a heart-to-heart conversation about his marriage and D’Arcy’s self esteem. Later, we learned why Sheriff Mike (Corey Reynolds) left Washington, D.C., and moved to Patience when he finally revealed to Liv (Elizabeth Bowen) how his partner and childhood friend died. While many once thought the sheriff was a one-dimensional character, he has proved he is anything but. Asta (Sara Tomko) and Harry made it to New York where they found a great slice (or slices) of pizza and Banksy-like artwork strewn across the city by a mysterious artist named Goliath. Harry discovers the locations of Goliath’s artwork across the city form a constellation and one of the locations represents his planet’s sun. The location on the map turns out to be a hipster loft filled with Goliath’s artwork and partygoers. As Asta mingles with the crowd in search of Goliath, she meets the hostess of the party, who later asks her how she knows Harry is an alien! Meanwhile, Harry tries to blend in with the crowd and takes some LSD which sends him on a psychedelic trip (at times both scary and funny) through the Big Apple. In this week’s episode, “Escape from New York”, Harry and Asta find what they are looking for but not what they need as danger closes in. Fan theories abound as to whether the loft owner is the “Asta” to Goliath and if the general’s detainees like Dr. Stone (Michael Cassidy) are really sleeper aliens who believe they are human until they get a signal to unleash their real alien selves. In the vignette below, Chris Sheridan—the show’s creator—as well as several of the actors talk about indigenous representation on Resident Alien.
