In a press release shared exclusively with Parade, the 27-year-old singer spoke out about the exciting moment, saying, “I absolutely am honored to have my new wax figure displayed at the world’s greatest wax museum, Madame Tussauds New York in Times Square. It has been a privilege to work closely with the artists and creatives on making the figure just right. I hope guests of the museum enjoy her as much as I do!” Lipa’s new figure wears a glamorous white stage outfit, holding a microphone and looking ready to take on the world. It depicts the singer during her Studio 2054 show, which was a livestream concert broadcast from London, England in late 2020. “We know guests are going to love interacting with Dua’s figure, for a memorable encounter impossible anywhere other than Madame Tussauds New York,” said Head of Marketing at Madame Tussauds New York Tiago Mogadouro. The figure was created after the pop star sat for more than 150 measurements solely to get her face structure exact. According to the press release, it took around five weeks to do just her hair, as “each strand of hair was individually inserted by hand.” Lipa has already won three Grammy Awards in her music career, most recently Best Pop Vocal Album for her second full-length album, Future Nostalgia. The singer just finished her second headlining tour, which began in 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Billboard reported that the singer’s tour grossed more than $40 million for just the North American dates. Lipa’s hit songs include “New Rules,” “Don’t Start Now,” and “Levitating,” and fans greatly anticipate her third album, which she told Variety she plans to keep working on in the first few months of 2023. “The album is different — it’s still pop but it’s different sonically, and there’s more of a lyrical theme. If I told you the title, everything would make sense — but I think we’ll just have to wait," she explained. You can grab your tickets to Madame Tussauds right here.
